Job Overview
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a dedicated Data Manager. This role supports the Assistant Directors of Research Operations and Child Mental Health Programs by managing data for the Texas Childhood Trauma Research Network (TX-CTRN).
Key Responsibilities
- Understand data collection in REDCap, including workflow, field attributes, and data quality.
- Develop ETL processes from REDCap to TX-CTRN Data Warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, internal, and partner data-sharing guidelines.
- Extract, clean, and manage data for research publications and operational needs.
- Collaborate with Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) data systems engineers.
- Perform data manipulation, dataset preparation, and assist stakeholders with data queries.
- Act as an internal resource for data access, aggregation, and management queries.
- Troubleshoot data quality issues and discrepancies.
- Work closely with investigators, research staff, and network partner institutions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in data analytics or database management in healthcare or research.
- Proficiency in SQL query writing.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and manipulation software such as R or Python.
- Basic statistical knowledge and data cleaning experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of self-motivation with outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Preferred
- PhD degree in a related field or Master's degree in Medical Informatics.
- Experience in healthcare data management and applying data privacy laws (HIPAA).
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records and psychological assessment scales.
- Experience with REDCap, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and statistical packages such as SAS, Stata, R, or SPSS.
- Knowledge of dashboarding tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Salary and Working Conditions
Salary Range: $84,000+ depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions: Standard office environment with occasional weekend, overtime, and evening work.
