Job Description

The Global Data Science group leverages a rich data set, spanning over 3 billion cards globally and capturing more than 100 billion transactions annually, to create innovative solutions that drive business success for our key partners and internal business units.

Our Data Scientists play a crucial role by using this rich data to tackle significant business challenges. You will work in specialized focus areas within Data Science, such as banks, merchants & retailers, digital products, and marketing, with the opportunity to rotate and gain broad exposure to Visa’s business operations.

Essential Functions

  • Think creatively to brainstorm innovative uses for our unique data to solve business problems.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their challenges and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Extract and analyze data to derive meaningful insights that benefit our clients.
  • Develop visualizations to make complex analyses accessible to a broad audience.
  • Identify opportunities to develop products from analyses suitable for multiple clients.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage Visa data for business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data to drive optimization and improvement of products, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms for various applications.
  • Use predictive modeling to enhance customer experiences, revenue generation, data insights, and advertising targeting.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

This is a hybrid position, with employees expected to work from the office 2-3 days a week as determined by leadership, maintaining a 50% or more office presence based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 4+ years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or MBA)
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and/or Spark to analyze large data sets
  • Proficiency in developing and refining machine learning models for predictive analytics, classification, and regression tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in data-based decision-making or quantitative analysis
  • Knowledge of ETL pipelines in Spark, Python, HIVE for processing and standardizing transaction and account level data
  • Experience generating and visualizing data insights in tools like Tableau
  • Familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards, or merchant analytics is a plus
