Job Description

The Global Data Science group aids our bank and merchant partners by utilizing our incredibly rich data sets that cover more than 4 billion cards globally and capture over 190 billion transactions in a single year. We focus on developing creative solutions that have immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. To support our rapidly expanding group, we are seeking Data Scientists who are excited about the opportunity to leverage Visa's rich data to address and provide significant results to complex problems! As a team member, you will join one of the Data Science focus areas (e.g., merchants, banks), with potential to rotate between Data Science teams, broadening your exposure to Visa's business.

Essential Functions

• Utilize and develop new predictive models to innovate and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, data insights, advertising targeting, and other business outcomes.
• Be a creative problem solver who is passionate about applying data science techniques and innovative thinking to our unique data to assist our clients in their innovation and problem-solving pursuits.
• Collaborate with your data science colleagues and other teams across Visa to guide the critical thinking for our clients using the data and tools at your disposal.
• Engage with clients and client teams regarding the results and strategic recommendations suggested by your analyses.
• Create visualizations to make your complex analyses accessible to a wide audience.
• Identify opportunities to create products out of your analyses that are applicable to multiple clients.
• Work with partners throughout the organization to explore opportunities for using Visa data to drive business solutions.

This position is a hybrid role. Hybrid employees can divide their time between working remotely and in the office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guideline of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or over 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
• 2+ years’ experience in data-based decision-making or quantitative analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as statistics, operations research, economics, computer science or similar fields (graduate degree is a plus)
• Experience in understanding and analyzing data using statistical software (e.g., Python, R, or others)
• Experience with extracting and aggregating data from large data sets using SQL, Hive, Spark or other tools
• Comfort and experience with machine learning techniques and accompanying packages
• Competency in Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau
• Prior exposure to financial services, credit cards or merchant analytics is a plus, but not required

Additional Information

Work Hours: Vary based on the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated range for a new hire into this position is 106,700.00 to 136,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
