Join NCQA as a Data Scientist III
NCQA is seeking a passionate and innovative Data Scientist III to lead and support data analysis projects aimed at improving healthcare quality through precise measurement. This role focuses on collaboration with cross-functional teams to present actionable insights from large healthcare datasets.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Programming and Quality Assurance
As a Data Scientist III, you will:
- Perform advanced programming tasks and statistical analyses, including data preparation, cleaning, and the implementation of refined statistical methods.
- Create formatted result tables, databases, and other outputs, ensuring the accuracy of results through rigorous quality assurance processes.
- Write expert-level code in SAS or R, following standardized departmental processes and documentation.
Data Analysis and Mentorship
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing claims and Electronic Health Record data from various angles to spot trends and patterns.
- Recommending optimal analysis methods and identifying data for future projects.
- Mentoring junior staff and guiding them in tackling more complex projects while managing lighter tasks efficiently.
Analysis Planning and Execution
Your tasks involve:
- Leading medium and large analytic projects, working independently on simpler projects.
- Understanding project needs, research questions, hypotheses, and methodology in-depth.
- Managing client expectations and preparing comprehensive analysis reports.
Technical Expertise
You will:
- Develop content expertise and provide analytic support for high-priority projects, including HEDIS, HPA/HPR, CMS GMAP, and others.
- Advise on research design, methods, and data sources while applying industry-standard knowledge to complex problems.
Thought Leadership
Responsibilities include:
- Presenting analytical results to clients and researchers, framing results to drive decision-making.
- Supporting team members in their professional growth and development.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master’s degree in health services research, applied statistics, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong programming skills in SAS or R.
- 5+ years of experience analyzing large healthcare-related datasets, including claims data.
- Proficiency in word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Expertise in univariate and multivariate modeling techniques and hypothesis testing.
Compensation & Benefits
For new hires, the salary range for this position is $120K - $130K per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include:
- Eligibility for an annual incentive bonus, payable according to company policy.
