It facilitates rapid testing of new technologies and the translation of pioneering research into comprehensive, enterprise-wide solutions.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI. You will develop advanced data science solutions leveraging machine learning and AI to drive enterprise-wide innovation across various business lines and Guardian products. Collaborate with Data Science Tech Leads on high-impact projects delivering AI/ML solutions that will significantly enhance risk management and Guardian's overall financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Deep Learning, LLM, and Generative AI capabilities
  • Design high-quality prompts and templates guiding LLM behavior and responses
  • Map and mine unstructured data such as insurance contracts, medical records, and customer logs
  • Enhance underwriting risk assessment, claims auto adjudication, and customer servicing with AI/ML solutions
  • Run large-scale experiments, from pre-training to prompt engineering
  • Evaluate LLM models on statistical tests, business metrics, and regulatory metrics
  • Support and contribute to the growth of the Data Science Lab (DSL)
  • Develop use cases from data exploration to final report/presentation
  • Utilize advanced statistical and AI/ML techniques for predictive models and analyses
  • Conduct data wrangling, matching, and ETL for various data sources
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and MLOps for model/solution deployment
  • Contribute to the standardization of Data Science tools, processes, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Data Engineering, and Business groups

Candidate Profile

You are passionate about cutting-edge technology and keen on applying new AI/ML algorithms and approaches. You are analytically driven, intellectually curious, and experienced in developing and implementing data and analytic solutions for complex business problems. Your ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and deploy AI/ML solutions that generate real market value for Guardian is key.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Basic experience in data analysis and statistical modeling
  • Strong foundations in probability and statistics
  • Highly skilled in deep learning models, including LLM, Prompt Engineering, and NLP
  • Hands-on experience with GPU, distributed computing, and parallelism in ML solutions
  • Proficient in Python (PyTorch or Tensorflow)
  • Solid background in algorithms and a variety of ML models
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with superb attention to detail
  • Proven technical leadership and mentoring skills

Location & Salary

This position requires 2-3 days a week at our NYC location in Hudson Yards.

Salary Range: $91,260.00 - $149,925.00

The salary range above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The final salary will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. This role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
