As part of an interdisciplinary team, you'll implement impactful data science use cases across the company, from production and supply chain to support processes. Our core mission is to independently develop end-to-end AI solutions for Covestro, working closely with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and AI Consultants, and collaborating with experts from various areas.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Identify and develop data science use cases that bring business value to Covestro.
• Implement data science use cases across production, sales/marketing, and finance, requiring close collaboration with business units and Machine Learning Engineering team members.
• Play a crucial role throughout the lifecycle of data science products, including exploratory data analysis, development and implementation of prototypes, minimum viable products (MVPs), and minimum marketable products (MMPs), as well as supporting products in the operational phase.
• Select and optimize suitable methods from statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence for each use case.
• Actively contribute to defining requirements for data processing architecture and technology in collaboration with Machine Learning Engineers.
• Select and evaluate proposals from external solution providers and consulting companies for effectiveness and usefulness.

What You Offer

• University degree (preferably Master's or PhD) in mathematics, physics, statistics, data science, or a related field, with several years of experience in data science within an international environment and virtual teams.
• Proficiency in R or Python, with experience in machine learning frameworks such as tidymodels, mlr3, sklearn, H2O, and TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with random forests, deep learning, LLMs, time series forecasts, and Bayesian modeling.
• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
• Strong presentation skills to explain complex issues simply and convincingly to colleagues from diverse departments and hierarchical levels.
• Comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, with a willingness to travel internationally.
