Role: Data Scientist, Privacy Hub, UK
Privacy Hub is in search of an enthusiastic and meticulous UK-based data scientist to enhance our team. Your role will involve assessing client information for re-identification risk to patients, processing and analyzing extensive health-related datasets, and contributing to the preparation of associated reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in healthcare data privacy from both quantitative and regulatory perspectives.
- Use programmatic tools to analyze data and explore hypotheses.
- Contribute to engineering workflows and product development to automate repeatable analysis components.
- Research emerging areas of patient privacy, such as genomics data and new regulatory implications.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant university degree or equivalent training with 2+ years of experience as a data scientist or data engineer.
- Expertise in SQL and either Python (preferred) or R, with strong coding and annotation skills.
- Proficiency in manipulating, integrating, processing, and interrogating large datasets.
- Strong skills in applying scientific methods to practical problems through experimental design, exploratory data analysis, and hypothesis testing.
- Comprehensive understanding of statistical probability distributions, bias, error, and power, as well as sampling and resampling methods.
- Exceptional initiative and problem-solving ability, along with the capacity to navigate ambiguity independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Well-developed time management skills with a track record of prioritizing tasks to meet tight client deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- An appreciation of effective data privacy and security methods, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Experience with cloud services for storage and computing.
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms.
- Detailed knowledge of specific types of health information, such as genomics or medical imaging.
