We are currently looking for a seasoned Data Scientist specializing in Fraud and Risk to help keep our platform a secure place for all users. Join our dynamic team and contribute to our innovative projects, designed to detect and deter threats to our safe e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive systems to manage the lifecycle of risk and fraud, including chargeback prevention and refund abuse detection.
  • Lead the creation of our Fraud Experimentation Playbook and establish actionable KPIs.
  • Collaborate closely across various departments to leverage data science tools and methodologies, enhancing decision-making and pinpointing improvement opportunities.
  • Build sophisticated, production-quality dashboards and reports to share insights.
  • Drive advancements in fraud detection methodologies with the aid of our Machine Learning and Trust & Safety teams.
  • Guide the strategic direction of engineering and operations through meticulous marketplace and user behavior analysis.

About You:

We're scouting for highly analytical, curious professionals who are ready to tackle complex problems related to fraud and risk on the Whatnot platform. You should possess a solid background in data science, be fluent in SQL and Python/R, and have a strong grasp of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Analytics & Science in anti-fraud, risk management, trust & safety, or similar roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or relatable fields, or an equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient in navigating complex data systems and comfortable using modern data warehousing technologies.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range for US-based applicants: $180,000 - $230,000/year, plus benefits and stock options. Benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance, a flexible time off policy, and a supportive work from home structure with generous allowances for home office setup and monthly expenses.
