Position Summary

NWH is looking for a highly skilled professional to join our IT team as a Database Administrator and Power BI Data Analyst. This dual-role is crucial for maintaining and optimizing our databases, and creating/managing SQL reports and Power BI dashboards to inform data-driven decisions across the organization. Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure Operations, this position is remote.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Database Management

  • Administer, maintain, and implement policies to ensure database security and integrity.
  • Perform database tuning, monitoring, and performance optimization for efficient operation.
  • Implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes.
  • Resolve database performance issues, capacity concerns, and distributed data issues.
  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure standards and policy compliance.
  • Optimize and consolidate existing databases for optimal system and storage performance.
  • Manage database access permissions and privileges.
  • Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.

Data Analysis

  • Develop and maintain SQL reports for end-users and create dynamic reports and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and analytical reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and data-driven decision opportunities.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and insights, recommending process optimizations.
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI) ensuring data integrity.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field, or 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Highly proficient in SQL with a strong understanding of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, SSIS & SSRS, DAX, and data modeling concepts.
  • Experience managing and maintaining a Data Warehouse and Data Cubes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or Microsoft Power BI certification.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages and APIs.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
