The Role: BI Data Engineer

We are seeking a skilled BI Data Engineer to collaborate with a diverse team of Developers, Data Scientists, and Database Administrators (DBAs). In this role, you will design, implement, and support advanced BI solutions across our entire organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architecture, implementation, and support of Ryanair applications using a variety of tools.
  • Lead and participate in the requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of BI technology solutions.
  • Perform ETL, Data Warehouse Modelling, OLAP processes, and BI solution delivery documentation.
  • Recommend system functionality and process improvements within the BI environment.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to deliver top-tier BI tools for a dynamic company.
  • Embrace new technologies and initiatives to solve problems effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of data engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Spark, ideally using Databricks.
  • Strong understanding of cluster configurations, Spark UI, and performance optimization.
  • Extensive experience with Databricks in multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
  • Solid understanding of modern data architectures (data warehouse, data lake, data lake-house).
  • Experience in data warehouse modeling and relational modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the data engineering lifecycle (ingestion, storage, transformation, serving).
  • Experience serving data for BI applications, data scientists, and software engineers.
  • ETL programming skills, handling large code bases and complex data structures.
  • Experience with cloud solutions, particularly Azure. GCP & AWS are a plus.

Our data sources include S3, Athena, Oracle, Elastic, MongoDB, BigQuery, Rest APIs.
