We are actively seeking a Director of Data Analytics to report to our VP of Data and Growth. This role will optimize data sharing across internal teams, unlocking actionable business intelligence. You will lead a dynamic team of data engineers, analysts, and scientists, forming the cornerstone of Docker’s next-generation data framework.
Role and Responsibilities
- Data Stewardship: Establish and maintain Docker’s single source of truth for data.
- Leadership: Lead a team of 20+ data professionals, fostering growth and technical excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate discussions with business leaders to align data capabilities with organizational objectives.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee data governance and advanced modeling, laying the foundation for machine learning.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with the core executive team to define data needs and track optimization progress.
- Vendor Management: Handle vendor relationships, including evaluation and selection processes for third-party systems.
- Feedback Loops: Build strong synergies with business partners to optimize data-related processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in leading teams to build modern data architectures with a focus on learning and development.
- 6+ years of direct people management experience, including developing both data professionals and people managers.
- Extensive experience in data product management and engineering.
- Proficiency in architecting large centralized data stores and driving vendor selection and contract negotiation.
- Strong leadership skills to manage a team of 20+ members.
- Applied knowledge of the OKR framework is preferred.
- Excellent program management skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
What to Expect: Onboarding Plan
First 30 Days
- Meet and connect with team members, key stakeholders, and virtual data leaders.
- Identify focus areas for optimization based on feedback and data assessment.
- Structure the team and finalize roles and responsibilities for targeted deliverables.
First 90 Days
- Deliver Docker's data strategy and oversee strategic planning and execution of prioritized projects.
- Streamline workflow from stakeholder demands to deliverables.
- Present the data strategy and execution plan to the leadership team.
- Define core and North Star metrics for all products.
- Institute health metrics with a regular review cadence.
- Mentor team leaders to handle day-to-day operations independently.
First Year
- Deliver data projects on time and with quality, maintaining a customer-centric, helpful, and secure brand for the data team.
- Streamline operations across all data teams and maintain a clear view of the company's data project backlog and roadmap.
- Deliver actionable data insights to stakeholders.
- Meet milestones for strategic initiatives like self-serve analytics and core data model rollouts.
