About the Role

As a Director, Data Scientist on the US Businesses Long Term Care Data Science Team, you will collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and other professionals to build sophisticated models for Long Term Care Estimates. You will develop machine learning models that ensure stability, scalability, and integration with other products and services, solving complex business problems and delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.

Position Details

This role is Hybrid (based in Newark, NJ) and requires on-site presence on a weekly basis as determined by your business needs. Your manager will provide specific details regarding the expected number of days on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for high-impact data science initiatives.
  • Identify the optimal data sets, models, and techniques for successful product delivery.
  • Manage team members through data analysis, model development, training, testing, and tuning.
  • Mentor team members in technical skill development.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally about model design and development.
  • Manage external vendors in data science development processes.
  • Leverage continuous integration and deployment best practices to ensure successful ML model deployment.
  • Work on unique issues that impact future products or technologies.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Java, or Scala.

Skills and Expertise

  • Master’s (Ph.D. preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Strong independent leadership with a collaborative spirit.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Solid business insight and ability to make sound decisions.
  • Continuous learning focus with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Expertise in Statistics, Data Acquisition, Machine Learning, and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Java, or Scala.

Note: Prudential is required by state laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $173,500.00 to $234,700.00. Specific pricing may vary based on geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. This role may also qualify for additional compensation and benefits under a discretionary annual incentive program.
