Job Title: Director, Engineering

Meta is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and coordinate activities in electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming. The ideal candidate will be both highly technical and an effective people manager, expert in at least one specific domain such as product, product infrastructure, infrastructure, or machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, or coordinate engineering activities and initiatives.
• Lead technical teams in delivering multiple projects with increasing dependencies in high-impact areas.
• Work with cross-functional partners to define and influence strategy.
• Drive roadmap creation and execution while collaborating with various functions.
• Participate in technical design and measure team impacts through clear goals and expectations.
• Supervise multiple departments, managing costs, methods, and staffing.
• Influence and contribute to organizational design and strategy alongside leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, followed by five years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience in a computer-related occupation. Additionally, candidates must have experience in the following areas:

• Coding in C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or PHP
• Architecting, developing, and delivering software products and services
• Technical team management or experience as a technical lead or project manager
• Building front-end technologies or back-end systems
• Unix or Linux systems
• Large-scale Internet service architectures (load balancing, LAMP, CDNs)
• Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
• Scaling high-performance, high-throughput systems
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing large-scale system problems
• Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts
• Developing and managing requirements and making data-driven decisions
• Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth

Compensation

The annual salary for this position ranges from $352,310 to $395,450, along with bonuses, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Learn more about benefits at Meta.
