Job Description: Current or previous Health Data Domain experience as a strategic enterprise data architect is vital for this position. Please consider this criteria before applying. We are seeking an experienced and successful individual to join our Enterprise Data architecture team as a Director, Enterprise Data Architecture. This leadership role is responsible for designing essential Health data systems in conjunction with Sun Life's Business and enterprise partners, including the holistic alignment of technologies, standards and practices that enable Sun Life to deliver world-class Health data and analytics systems. The Data Architecture team is an evolving group guiding Sun Life in the application of cutting-edge solutions for Sun Life business opportunities. This role will be directly reporting to the Chief Data Architect. In this role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of advanced data architectures like Data Fabric & Mesh on cloud. This is a innovation opportunity to gain experience with AI and ML initiatives on cloud for voice and text data in the Health Data Domain. You will orchestrate the Health Data strategy engagements with client executives and define data architectures for enterprise-level engagements. You'll also lend a hand in mentoring the project team with complex technical issues. You'll develop data patterns, define playbooks, and technologies. You'll inspect structural requirements for new software and applications in the Health Data domain. You will lead technology POCs and pilots in the data and analytics domain in collaboration with Data and analytics teams. You will create and present Health Data tools/tech proposals and assessments at EA Governance councils. You will offer leadership on the design and end-to-end solutions for building data and analytics applications on cloud and on-premise platforms. You will coordinate with Data life cycle management program in all aspects of the delivery. You will liaise with the Data Science department to identify future needs and requirements in the Health Data domain. You will apply best practices to all solution architecture, design areas, including on-prem, Cloud/AWS, or a combination. This comprises areas such as Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, and Cost Optimization. You will mentor other data systems designers (Data Architects), both within your team and within other enterprise services or business units, in order to support solution development and application of best practices. You will translate detailed requirements into functional specifications. You will provide high-level estimates for project proposals and solution designs. You will work with the solutions design team to drive data and analytics strategy across the enterprise. You will offer consultation for the evaluation of complex data and software systems. You will demonstrate strong hands-on experience in delivering data analytics solution with proven business value. You will mentor, develop, and actively support practice capabilities including recruiting and development of leaders. Major Accountability: Drive Health Data Architecture strategy with senior Business and Technical stakeholders across the enterprise. Guide Data and Analytics delivery partners from an enterprise data architecture point of view. Build and lead a small team of enterprise data architects. Set up and provide governance on data architecture and technology standards. What do you need to succeed? 5+ years of experience in managing Health Data systems that involves overall data architecture, design and analytics. Approximately 15+ years of build/design experience related to data service design, building enterprise data architecture, and enforcing architecture guidelines during end-to-end implementations. 3+ years with cloud-based data architecture in a recent and modern AWS environment. While we prefer strong AWS experience, we will also consider those candidates with strong health data architecture experience in other cloud environments such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform. Strong knowledge on MDM (Master Data Management), RDM, Data Modeling techniques, Data architecture patterns. Background of working with data governance and its application. Experience in Machine Learning/AI methodologies and technologies is preferred. Strong previous experience in delivering projects in Big Data-related projects using AWS cloud technology, data lake technologies, Kafka, Glue, EMR, Redshift, and Lambda (or similar technology stacks in Azure or GCP environments). Previous Data analytics and visualization solutions using any modern age tools (for example, AWS Sagemaker or similar), R Studio, Tableau. Extremely strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. This includes skills such as conceptual requirements interpretation, solution creation, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent collaboration and leadership skills, proven adaptability to challenges, and a strong interest in coaching and mentoring colleagues. Experience with productionizing services at scale and related change management. Proven experience in designing enterprise solutions for ODS, data warehouse system integrations. What's in it for you? It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
