Reporting directly to the Head of the Technology Office, the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our cutting-edge AI Platform. The role ensures the AI solution is scalable, secure, and aligned with our company’s strategic goals.
Experience with AI/ML: Deep understanding of AI/ML principles, algorithms, architectures, and frameworks. Proficiency in programming languages and libraries relevant to AI development.
Experience with AI Platforms: Hands-on experience designing, developing, or managing AI platforms, including cloud-based markets such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, incorporating both large and small language models.
Data Engineering Skills: Expertise in data pipelines, data processing techniques, and data storage solutions pertinent to AI workloads.
Software Engineering Best Practices: Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, DevOps, and testing methodologies to ensure scalable AI solutions.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align AI programs with team goals and translate them into actionable roadmaps.
Team Building and Mentorship: Experience in building and directing AI teams, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent collaboration with stakeholders and leaders across various business areas.
Project Management: Proven track record of managing partners, delivering AI projects on time and within budget, and managing resources and risks.
Industry Awareness: Keeping abreast of the latest trends and advancements in AI, identifying potential opportunities and threats.
Storytelling: Ability to explain vision and journey in an engaging manner.
Innovation Focus: Promoting experimentation and exploration of cutting-edge AI techniques for a competitive advantage.
Ethical Considerations: Deep understanding of the ethical implications of AI, ensuring responsible and fair AI development and deployment.
Constantly research and stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning. Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical colleagues, leading awareness, adoption, and enthusiasm.
Contractual Ownership: Manage vendor relationships and ensure service levels and contractual obligations are met.
Responsible for managing a $10 million+ AI and cloud platform budget.
Lead a high-performing team of IT professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Education: Undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or equivalent. Master’s degree and related certifications are desirable.
Experience: 10+ years of relevant IT experience, with 4+ years in managerial or demonstrated leadership roles. Experience managing IT projects globally is a plus. Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience is desirable.
Technical Skills: Background in solution architecture with a focus on cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Experience implementing integrated roadmaps for cloud platforms and working with LLM models.
Additional Skills: Demonstrated DevOps experience and ML/AI engineering skills are a plus.
