Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Software Engineering for the ONTAP Platform Engineering team with a special focus on storage and AI. This senior position requires a blend of strong technical and management skills. You will collaborate with executive management, leading the team to develop the Next Generation ONTAP Data Platform for AI/ML, contributing significantly to NetApp’s success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product/feature design and implementation strategies focusing on storage and AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with top-level management and tech heads to influence company-wide technology and development strategies.
  • Develop people strategies and enhance organizational performance and competitiveness.
  • Direct senior managers and lead strategic global projects in storage and AI.
  • Work with product management to establish strategic plans for storage and AI initiatives.
  • Develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for storage and AI projects.
  • Manage budgets efficiently with an emphasis on optimizing storage and AI initiatives.
  • Possess a deep understanding of enterprise system software development and delivery in storage and AI domains.
  • Drive innovation leveraging analytics data platforms and cloud analytics for storage and AI solutions.
  • Communicate effectively to present and negotiate storage and AI concepts and strategies.
  • Manage and control costs for storage and AI initiatives.
  • Lead manager-level employees and manage complex projects in the storage and AI domains.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • 10+ years of experience as a software development engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering enterprise software, focusing on storage and AI.
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud technologies and best practices in storage and AI.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex cross-functional projects and processes in storage and AI domains.

Responsibilities

  • Direct activities at the senior level within the function and geographic area with a focus on storage and AI.
  • Translate functional strategies into operational plans and priorities in storage and AI domains.
  • Significantly impact performance standards and company success through decision-making.
  • Use in-depth knowledge to solve abstract issues and establish long-range plans with a focus on storage and AI.
  • Manage the assigned budget effectively.

Interaction

This role requires strong leadership skills to establish clear goals and priorities, particularly in the domains of storage and AI. You will work closely with senior engineering and product management teams, as well as vice president-level employees, addressing storage and AI-related issues across the company. This position reports to a Vice President.
