Job Description

We are in search of a Senior Data Steward – Manager level for our Enterprise Master data team in Delhi. We desire an experienced data professional and developing leader who flourishes in a dynamic environment and aspires to enrich data to deliver superior customer results.

This role will be part of the Enterprise Master Data Management (EMDM) group and will work intimately with our Research, Data and Product functions. EMDM at Wood Mackenzie sticks to Gartner’s definition of: 'A consistent and uniform set of identifiers and attributes that describe the key entities (parties, places, things) of the enterprise and are used across multiple business processes.' Our attention is on the entities within the data sets we source, refine and sell.

This role focuses on building, enhancing, and maintaining the data that identifies or describes any organization/party in our Organisation EMDS (such as companies, government entities, individuals, trade organizations, joint ventures, etc.). Our Master Data supports Wood Mackenzie’s unique comprehension of the energy and natural resources sectors allowing for the creation of high confidence linkages and roll ups across sectors. Data is the key driver behind Wood Mackenzie’s mission to transform the way we power the planet. The successful candidate will be leading teams that are working on challenges around master data management supporting a wide range of data sets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Data Stewards to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met on time with an exceptional level of quality
  • Be the main point of contact for colleagues in Research, Data, Product and Engineering to deliver Data Assets
  • Lead initiatives to deliver improvements to workflows that deliver efficiency, optimization, migration or improvement in our systems, processes, and datasets
  • Provide leadership, coaching and technical support to the teams across data analysis, visualization and data management, ensuring they are supported to deliver new Analytics through connected datasets and integrated pipelines
  • Develop a clear view of the data landscape, domain and workflows for your business area, customers and products and be able to explain these to junior team members to support their development
  • Work in an agile, collaborative manner to foster an environment of continuous improvement and incremental delivery, measuring success
  • As a core user of Data/GIS platform you will ensure that best practices are applied and that they are well documented and clear to the team, so that they understand how to utilize or maintain databases, tools, models and data solutions from data sourcing to client delivery

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • 6-12 years’ experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills (leading teams to deliver)
  • Proven ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, to manage multiple tasks and/or projects with changing priorities and to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with attention to detail
  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate himself and others
  • Enjoys the balance of working independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience with data manipulation tools to solve complex quantitative problems and analyze data
  • Demonstrated a willingness to think creatively and offer new ideas to solve problems
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable asking questions

Pluses:

  • Experience working on agile projects
  • Experience with MDM/Governance systems (such as Ataccama, Informatica, Talend, Tibco, Semarchy)
  • Previous experience with Consolidation and Centralized MDM implementation style
  • Previously developed strong understanding of AWS and API’s is an advantage
  • Ability to work asynchronously with team members and stakeholder across multiple backgrounds, regions and time zones
