Job Opportunity: Energy & Sustainability Data Analyst II at BGIS
Job Summary
BGIS is seeking a dedicated Energy & Sustainability Data Analyst II to manage and compile client data related to GHG reduction initiatives and other sustainability objectives. The role entails data reporting, generating actionable insights, making recommendations for data quality improvement, and implementing these changes. Effective communication of key insights to both internal BGIS teams and client stakeholders is crucial. Additionally, the analyst will support the reporting on Energy & Sustainability related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting and Analysis
- Utilize programming and analytical tools, such as Microsoft Power BI, VBA, Tableau, or similar relational database tools to create models and extract insights.
- Perform trend analysis and identify outliers in energy-related data.
- Review data from diverse sources to ensure ongoing data integrity.
- Develop data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, cleanse, and standardize data, addressing reporting requirements.
- Support the reporting on GHG-related client KPIs.
- Define data requirements and gather relevant information, using judgment and statistical tests.
- Identify and troubleshoot data integration and integrity issues by collaborating with appropriate business units.
- Conduct ad-hoc and strategic analysis of structured and unstructured data, pertaining to project costs, GHG savings, and utility data.
- Prepare and develop various sustainability-focused reports, including but not limited to water, waste, and energy metrics.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinate data management, sharing, and integration with internal BGIS team members and PSPC key contacts.
- Act as the subject matter expert for data visualization software, providing training to energy team members as needed.
- Support energy team members in the development and design of new tools, databases, and processes, specifically the Power BI Utility Dashboard.
- Assist operation teams in providing reports for project, compliance, and contractual requirements.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills
- University degree in computer science, math, engineering, data science, or related field. Equivalent or similar college diploma with significant job experience will also be considered.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
- Management and organization of large data sets using Microsoft Excel-based software.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot data integration and integrity issues by collaborating with appropriate business units.
- Proficiency in VBA, database management, and programming.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced skills with visualization software (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) and use of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong administrative skills, including documentation standards.
- Knowledge of facility management services is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to function efficiently under pressure with ever-changing priorities and deadlines.
