Join Our Team as an Environmental Data Analyst

At GCX, we are dedicated to helping our corporate clients achieve their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. We are currently seeking a dynamic Environmental Data Analyst to play a crucial role in coordinating, organizing, and analyzing significant amounts of environmental data.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Manage ESG data for multiple corporate clients.
• Collect, manage, and organize ESG data from various service providers.
• Normalize and transform data into a structured format.
• Perform data reconciliation to identify trends, gaps, and anomalies.
• Ensure quality control on internal calculations and outgoing reports.

Job Requirements:

• Strong experience with MS Office, especially Excel and Power Query.
• Robust analytical skills for data reconciliation and trend analysis.
• Exceptional organizational skills to manage vast amounts of data efficiently.
• Proven ability to manage time and handle multiple client projects with tight deadlines.
• Excellent client management skills to facilitate varying stages of client sustainability journeys.
• Capability to deliver compelling presentations to client executives.
• Keen ability to conduct extensive research in the rapidly evolving sustainability sector.
• A foundational understanding of environmental impacts (Basic Carbon Accounting is a plus).

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with protocols such as the Greenhouse Gas Corporate Accounting and Reporting Protocol or ISO14064-1.
• Experience with environmental and sustainability reporting, emissions reductions, and ISO14001.
• Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools, particularly MS Power BI.
• Experience in software tools development or environmental auditing.
• Understanding of South Africa’s carbon tax, global climate, and ESG reporting frameworks.
