Meta, a pioneer in innovative technology, is looking for a talented Research Engineer to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Team. This crucial role focuses on responsible AI, AI ethics, and AI safety. As a part of our team, your efforts will significantly advance the field of AI, especially concerning social biases in machine learning (ML) models.

About the Role

As a Research Engineer, you will:

  • Conduct pioneering research to push forward the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Develop highly scalable algorithms utilizing machine learning and neural network methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with other FAIR scientists on groundbreaking research projects aimed at identifying and mitigating social biases in generative models.
  • Utilize your profound knowledge and coding expertise in contributing to system and framework development projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least three years of experience in responsible AI, particularly in NLP (Natural Language Processing) and/or CV (Computer Vision).
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain it throughout the period of employment.
  • Experience in analyzing and collecting data from various sources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Industry research experience in generative AI and large language models.
  • First-authored publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, ACM FAccT, and others.
  • Demonstrated software engineering experience through past work.
  • Experience with high-performance coding and profiling.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this full-time position is between $146,994 and $208,000 per year, plus potential bonuses, equity, and other incentives.
