What is the main role of a Data Science Intern?

Our Engineering Team designs high-scale web and mobile e-commerce applications that operate continuously worldwide. We work in small collaborative groups to develop extremely scalable and reliable systems.

As a Data Science Intern at Taboola's Engineering team in Downtown Los Angeles, you will use advanced algorithms and deep machine learning on a product that supports billions of page views for hundreds of millions of unique users every day.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

For this role, you must have:

• A preference for those with or pursuing a higher degree
• Previous internships or experience in statistics, data mining and predictive modeling
• Programming experience with Python and the framework
• Experience with SQL and database queries
• Experience implementing machine learning and data mining algorithms
• Experience working with Linux and Git

It would be beneficial if you also have:

• Programming experience with Java
• Experience with Hadoop stack and Apache Spark

What will my day-to-day activities be?

As a Data Science Intern, you will:

• Identify Data Science solutions for various product initiatives
• Design and create predictive customer behavior models for targeting and personalization
• Implement the applicable Machine Learning or statistics-based algorithm for prediction and optimization
• Present findings to the product team and technical team leads in a clear and actionable manner
• Develop and maintain code to populate HDFS, Hadoop with logs from Kafka or data loaded from SQL production systems.
• Design, create and support algorithms for data transformation, conversion, computation on Hadoop, Spark and other distributed Big Data Systems
