Fundamental AI Research Scientist - FAIR at Meta

Meta is actively seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team. Our organization is at the forefront of advancing AI technologies. We are looking for individuals recognized as experts in research areas, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational linguistics, and applied mathematics. Key topics include deep learning, reinforcement learning, representation learning, multimodality, multilingual language models, AI safety, generative modeling, and the social impacts of AI.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Conduct pioneering research to push the boundaries of intelligent machines.
• Explore and understand the semantics of various data modalities like images, video, text, and audio.
• Strive towards long-term research goals while achieving short-term milestones.
• Influence the AI research community through high-quality publications.
• Open source high-quality code and ensure reproducible research.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in AI, computer science, data science, or a related technical field.
• Experience working in industry, postdoctoral research, faculty, or governmental research positions.
• Proven research background in machine learning, AI, computational statistics, or applied mathematics.
• Research publications that demonstrate experience in theoretical or empirical studies.
• Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and continuous work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Research and engineering experience evidenced by publications, grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, open-source code, or coding competitions.
• First-authored publications at notable peer-reviewed conferences like ICML, NeuRIPS, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, FacCT, CCS, and IEEE S&P.
• Experience in solving complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and considering diverse viewpoints.
• Proven ability to collaborate on research projects in a team environment.
• Experience in communicating research findings to peer audiences.
