Graduate Intern Technical at Intel

Job Details

Job Description:

Join an exciting internship focusing on the efficient implementation of transformer-based deep learning models, especially Large Language Models, on edge platforms. Your role will involve understanding current performance limitations via benchmarking and profiling. You’ll develop innovative techniques such as model-compression, data-compression, and workload partitioning to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) like latency, memory bandwidth, and power.

You will collaborate within Intel’s System, Software and Architecture (SSA) Labs. Our team is dedicated to advancing software-driven system architecture to support Intel’s expansion in hyper-scale cloud datacenters, high-performance computing (HPC), and intelligent edge infrastructure. As a Research Intern, you will enhance your deep learning and AI systems skills, working alongside researchers known for their contributions to leading AI/ML publications and real-world impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform literature reviews to understand state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement models, conduct testing, evaluate performance, and optimize for Intel platforms.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s/PhD in Engineering Design, CS, ECE, EE, ME, AI, or related fields.
  • Strong research ability, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in AI and Machine Learning concepts, including neural networks and transformers.
  • Proficient in Python and libraries such as numpy and scipy; familiar with frameworks like PyTorch and Hugging Face.
  • Understanding of the operation and architectures of transformers and Large Language Models.
  • Experience with performance characterization on real systems.
  • Fundamentals in probability and linear algebra.

Preferred Skills:

  • Published work in AI/ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, etc.
  • Demonstrated deep learning and software development experience, with contributions to open-source projects and participation in AI/coding challenges.
  • Familiarity with information theory and/or data-compression techniques.
