Job Description
TDI Technologies, Inc. is actively seeking candidates for the position of Jr. Data Scientist. The primary role involves gathering, formatting, and analyzing data from Navy Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine learning methods, model development, and training. This role necessitates working within an engineering team, designing innovative software solutions, and engaging with customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop code and test modeling approaches for shipboard systems using real and simulated sensor data from control systems.
- Incorporate algorithms and model designs into software solutions, addressing customers' data analytics challenges.
- Prototype and present TDI Technologies' data science capabilities to prospective customers.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- 0-2 years of experience in engineering, software development, or a data science-centric role.
Special Requirements:
- Active government security clearance or the ability to obtain one upon job acceptance.
- Valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon job acceptance.
Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in Python for software development.
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI frameworks such as scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Experience with time-series classification, regression analysis, optimization, and clustering.
- Software development within Linux and Windows environments.
- Proficiency with version control tools such as SubVersion or Git.
- Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail for documentation purposes.
- Ability to communicate technical problems and solutions effectively within a team.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience in identifying trends and problems through data analysis.
- Capability to combine analyses from multiple data sources using various techniques, from simple aggregation to complex data mining.
- Experience with scalable process solutions using big data tools like TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing, data models, and developing data sources.
- Understanding of naval shipboard Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems.
- Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices.
- Knowledge or experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Knowledge of rotating machinery, industrial automation and controls, or vibration analysis.
Travel Requirements
This position may require up to 5-10% travel.
Location
This position is based in Philadelphia, PA. While some remote work is possible, attendance at in-person meetings at the Philadelphia Navy Yard offices and government facilities is required.
