Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University's Center for Online and Continuing Education is looking for a Junior Data Scientist (JDS). The successful candidate will possess a passion for using technology to enhance student-learning environments and to improve student-learning outcomes. Experienced in transformative Artificial Intelligence innovations, the JDS will work with a team of researchers focused on supporting effective student learning. The JDS will work on projects aimed at equipping students for the digitally connected and competitive workforce. Applicants should have a keen interest in research and data analytics related to digital learning, and be motivated to develop their career with the experience and skills gained from being a team member at the FAU Center for Online and Continuing Education.
Summary of Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods educational research.
- Aiding in educational research and development.
- Helping to organize data for compatibility with analytical tools.
- Collaborating on research dissemination for scholarly academic writing, journal submissions, and professional conference presentations, as required.
- Assisting with grant and award writing.
- Collaborating on data collection instrument development.
- Assisting with other initiatives for the Center for Online and Continuing Education, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Information Technology and Management, Computer Science and Data Analytics, or in a related field from an accredited institution is required.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with statistical software such as SPSS or similar, collaboration on academic teams with individuals from varying professional backgrounds, knowledge of varying coding languages, exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail, experience with the Canvas Learning Management System, willingness to learn new software programs and coding languages, excellent communication skills, flexibility and adaptability, team-oriented mindset and problem-solving skills.
Salary:
$25.00 per hour. Other Personnel Services (OPS)
