Opportunity Overview

As a Junior ML Data Scientist, you'll play a crucial role in developing data products that support our agricultural monitoring, reporting, and verification tools. Your expertise in statistical analysis and data visualization will enhance the quality and accuracy of the data we use to promote sustainable agricultural practices worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize statistical methods to evaluate and enhance model performance across our data product suite.
• Design and operationalize data pipelines for streamlined data processing and quality training/validation datasets.
• Collaborate with Data Science and Engineering teams to refine landscape-scale agricultural data products.
• Source and preprocess data for robust model training and validation, including diverse biophysical and agricultural datasets.
• Develop, assess, and fine-tune machine learning/deep learning models to meet specific performance criteria.
• Eloquently communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Earth Science, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields.
• Proven experience with statistical modeling and machine learning using remote sensing data.
• Proficiency in Python, including use of scientific and ML libraries like NumPy, SciPy, SKLearn, TensorFlow.
• Experience applying remote sensing data in large-scale agricultural or ecological monitoring and modeling.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow.
• Exceptional technical writing and presentation skills in English.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with software development practices using Git and thorough documentation.
• Knowledge of spatial statistics, remote sensing technologies, and/or agronomy.
