Wood Mackenzie is seeking a Junior Data Analyst (Research Associate) to join our natural gas market data analytics team in Edinburgh or London. Our team manages and scrutinizes Wood Mackenzie's extensive proprietary and public datasets, investigating trends and constructing narratives backed by apt data. You will also collaborate with some of the industry's top subject matter experts to deliver insights that influence markets.
Your appointment level within the company's hierarchical structure will depend on your skills, experience and capabilities demonstrated at assessment prior to the job offer.
The natural gas market data analytics team is accountable for ensuring accurate, timely, and comprehensive data delivery to our products while providing meaningful market analysis to clients. Each team member specializes in a region, collectively contributing to a comprehensive perspective. In this role, you will professionally develop towards becoming adept in all aspects of your region, starting with the data, which forms the basis of market research, and proceeding to the macro-economic factors that impact spot and future prices. Drawing from quantitative and qualitative analysis, you'll understand the core of natural gas markets and uphold your insights with the analysis of substantial data. We relay these insights to clients via products and direct client interaction. To thrive in this role, you should display creative reasoning, meticulousness, and perseverance.

Furthermore, any experience with the subject matter and the tools primarily used by the team would be beneficial but not mandatory. The key subject matter revolves around the fundamentals of natural gas supply & demand and related datasets. The team primarily uses tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and relational databases. We appreciate any technical or industry knowledge and always strive to incorporate new technologies, programming languages, and skillsets.
