Axiom is a recognized leader in the business of law and has pioneered the “alternative legal services” category for over 20 years. While not a traditional law firm, Axiom would rank among the top 10 largest law firms by the number of lawyers employed. Axiom manages a diverse global network of legal professionals who are matched to engagements with our prestigious clients using a bespoke technology platform. Although we've made strides to automate this matchmaking process using machine learning, the vast majority of matches are still manually handled by Axiom staff.
We are on the cusp of transitioning from manual to automated matchmaking by leveraging pioneering technologies within the machine learning space. Using NLP and other data extraction techniques, Axiom aims to build capabilities to identify the best talent for roles at the right time. By pulling information from our vast database of Talent and Client preferences, Axiom believes it can provide a best-in-class experience for the wide-reaching Axiom Talent Network.
To enable this transformation, Axiom’s Research & Development department is expanding our newly formed Data Science team. This is your opportunity to be part of Axiom’s data science journey from its early stages and help shape the future of the company.
The data science function within Axiom R&D is nascent but ambitious. Our dedicated team, currently comprising a Senior Data Scientist, a Data Engineer, and a product solution-focused Product Manager, is on a mission to answer deep-seated questions. We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to collaborate closely with the Science team to ensure the right information is available at the right place and at the right time. As part of this role, you'll work within R&D data as well as broader information across Axiom to help transform and leverage the necessary data for our long-term machine learning programs.
As a Junior Data Engineer, you should be familiar with core data warehousing technical components (e.g., Data Modeling, ETL, and Reporting) and have experience in data architecture for warehouse solutions, with some exposure to SaaS reporting platforms. You should be familiar with the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets.
The successful candidate will build efficient, flexible, extensible, and scalable ETL and reporting solutions. You should be enthusiastic about learning new technologies and capable of implementing solutions that enhance functionality or scale the existing platform. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as you'll work closely with diverse teams. Proficiency in analytical skills is a plus. Above all, you should be passionate about working with data and enabling business teams to answer critical questions and drive change.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for clarity, be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, possess strong attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. Given the complexity of the questions we are tackling, the ideal candidate will be relentlessly curious and interested in the business conversation underlying the data.
