About the Role

As a Junior Voice AI Engineer, you will be deeply involved in maintaining and enhancing our robust and efficient voice infrastructure. Here's what a day in the life at Optus looks like:

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and monitoring the health and performance of the voice platform.
  • Proactively analyze platform metrics to find opportunities for optimization and scalability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless user experience for voice services.
  • Implement and manage user access controls based on specific roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for voice-related incidents and propose preventive solutions.
  • Supervise routing performance and suggest improvements to enhance customer experience and operational performance.
  • Identify and implement platform improvements aligned with business objectives.
  • Support capacity planning efforts using historical data and industry trends to forecast voice traffic demand.
  • Evaluate new technologies with vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Collaborate on technology integration projects to enhance the customer experience, leveraging technologies like Google CCAI, SQL databases, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A professional degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant internship or work experience in the telecommunications or IT industry.
  • An understanding of voice communication technologies, including VoIP protocols, SIP, RTP, and telephony systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, call routing principles, and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).
  • Strong voice platform management principles, including monitoring, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues related to voice platforms and networks.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and business partners.
  • An eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
