About the Team

The Data Intelligence Platform (DIP) team at Coupang crafts solutions in Platform Biz Intelligence by automating specific business processes end-to-end, enhancing performance, and consolidating data collection with system integration to provide insights. Our main collaborators include teams like Selection, Pricing, and Retail, boosting efficiency through data provision and system support.

Role Overview

The Senior Data Engineer on our Data Intelligence Platform will engage in major business projects. From understanding and simplifying web-platform processes from a business and customer impact perspective to providing architectural solutions and handling the design, deployment, and quality control of systems post-development. This role requires constant collaboration with stakeholders and Program Managers across various organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster automation of various business processes for efficiency and reduced complexity.
• Engage in end-to-end development to enhance operational productivity and support competitive systems initiatives.
• Understand and transform data workflows, introducing new frameworks to ensure real-time data flow for new product types.
• Keep up with and contribute to cutting-edge technologies relevant to our Platform, mentoring peers and junior developers.
• Maintain high standards in your domain, contributing to troubleshooting legacy systems and establishing a roadmap for progressive enhancements.

Position Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience developing with Kotlin, Java, and Spring framework.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Kotlin, Java, or Python.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Back-end Engineering and Data Engineering.
• Experience designing and operating data pipelines in cloud environments like AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases such as HBase, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra.
• Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Yarn) and proficiency in handling large-scale data processing in distributed environments.
• Strong understanding and experience in API fault management, system monitoring, and basics of probability and statistics.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in leading projects and persuading stakeholders across varied organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering.
• Experience leading system architecture design.
• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale software infrastructures.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.
• Enthusiasm for automating processes and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
• Experience improving slow queries and optimizing web service design/development/performance.
• Experience with CI/CD in an MSA environment, utilizing tools like Airflow, Hive, Hadoop.

Work Location and Applying
