Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, hello, welcome, kia ora, 你好, hallo, welcome!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can take some time and you're probably eager to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our main campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and shared workspaces in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. However, you can choose where and how you work. This means that whether you want to work in the office (if you're near one), at home or a mix of both, the choice is yours.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva grows, change continues to be a part of our DNA. But we view it as part of the excitement. This will give you an idea of the kind of work you'll be doing when you start, but it's likely to change over time.

At the moment, the role entails:

  • developing and implementing a data strategy that facilitates best practice in data pipelines to provide the necessary data and insights
  • finding insights to help us understand both Canva and our team - we want you to be creative and insightful, instead of just throwing typical metrics at the wall to see what sticks
  • creating, owning, and reporting key metrics for your team’s initiatives, and make them look really good - you don’t need to be a designer or have any design talent, you just need to want to build cool things
  • working closely with various team members and taking the initiative to keep things moving. Identifying opportunities where your team can make the biggest impact and seeing it through
  • owning projects, data models, dashboards, and other artifacts and keeping them updated and high quality in a fast-growing environment
  • enhancing data capability and knowledge across the people group, aiming to drive the team to meet its own data needs.

You're probably a good fit if:

  • you have proven experience leading data specialists, defining team strategy, and data roadmaps in the HR analytics field
  • you have demonstrated proficiency with SQL; experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery, as well as experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines is a plus!
  • you have experience in creating dashboards that effectively communicate results and outcomes
  • you're capable of taking ambiguous issues and resolving them in a structured, hypothesis-driven, data-supported manner
  • you have shown strategic and long-term thinking with practical excellence in execution.

About the team

The People Analytics Team is a relatively new team. We currently support our very large People group's goal to become a data-driven organization by using detailed data and insights to direct program design and decisions related to all components of our people and culture experience such as recruitment, growth and development, performance, total rewards, wellbeing and engagement, retention, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

In this role, you'll be a strategic thinker who can tackle ambiguous problems, and provide people insights which can bring clarity to our People leadership team.

What's in it for you?

Aiming for our ambitious goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll also experience plenty of moments of magic, connection, and fun throughout your time at Canva. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for success both inside and outside of work.

Here's a taste of what's on offer:

  • Equity packages - we want you to share in our success
  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents and caregivers
  • An annual well-being and social connection allowance to support your wellbeing, social activities, office setup and more
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to make a positive impact, take time to recharge, and support you personally
