Job Overview: Lead MLOps Engineer

Mastercard is seeking a Lead MLOps Engineer to spearhead initiatives in our award-winning team, based in the heart of the City of London. This role involves enhancing our capabilities in fighting financial crimes like money laundering and fraud by leveraging advanced data science and a deep understanding of payment data.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As the Lead MLOps Engineer:

• You will develop, maintain and oversee machine learning (ML) models throughout their lifecycle.
• You'll be the pioneer in establishing a complete ML workflow, aligning with Mastercard’s guidelines and using certified tools.
• Your initial tasks will focus on model deployment, setting up CI/CD processes, managing the release pipeline, and evaluating and testing model inputs and outputs.
• You will manage model monitoring with our existing tools like ELK stack and Grafana by creating and maintaining dashboards, and designing services to monitor feature creep and model entropy.
• Expect to engage in data preparation, exploratory data analysis, and automate these processes to bridge the gap between Data Scientists and Software Engineers.
• You’ll collaborate closely with Data Scientists to align on requirements and limitations, and with Software Engineers to ensure understanding of feature and model needs.
• You will ensure consistency between model training environments and production realms.
• Participate in evaluating new technological options, task planning, sprint reviews, and risk management within your dedicated application/service.
• Conduct demos and engage in acceptance discussions with analysts, developers, and product owners.

Who You Are

You are passionate about building stable, efficient, and impactful services using ML to address pressing customer issues. Your background in software development, data science, DevOps, or operations empowers you to deploy and manage ML models effectively. You are adept in:

• Communicating with diverse stakeholders including experts in data science, software engineering, and enterprise DevOps and security.
• Software development with proficiency in languages like Python and Go.
• Service design using modern technologies such as containers, streaming data platforms, and APIs.
• Developing, debugging, and operating deployment pipelines and large-scale data solutions.
• Implementing MLOps workflows and monitoring ML models effectively.
• Working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban.
• Version control with Git and familiar with various branching strategies.
