The Role

As a Machine Learning Researcher, you will:

• Develop new approaches to infuse biological understanding into AI models.
• Innovate on key architectural components to unlock unprecedented capabilities.
• Design and train cutting-edge AI models using large, diverse biological datasets.
• Tackle challenges such as extremely long context in biological sequences and multi-modal data.
• Solve AI research problems at scale, focusing on model architecture, scaling, pre-training, fine-tuning strategies, and rigorous evaluation methods.
• Work with various Gen AI architectures, including transformers, autoencoders, GANs, and diffusion models, as well as other deep learning architectures.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek candidates who have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• A PhD in Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with 2 years of research or industry experience.
• First author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences or journals.
• Experience writing software and executing complex experiments using Python and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Researched and developed deep learning and generative AI methods.
• Experience scaling machine learning models in a cloud computing environment.
• Delivered high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code, observing appropriate design patterns and software architectures.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, ownership of challenges, and pride in resolving them.
• A mature mindset in ambiguous situations, helping to frame questions, seek clarity, and make decisions amidst uncertainty.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, and a passion for collaborating with and guiding colleagues in a multidisciplinary team.
• Motivation to make a real impact, committed to tackling significant problems with determination and creativity.

Bonus Points

• Previous experience applying machine learning in biology or chemistry.
• Knowledge of physics, molecular biology, chemistry, or related fields.
• Experience developing efficient code in C/C++.
