Join our dynamic team as a Manager in our Data Governance and Protection Office, reporting directly to the Group Chief Data Governance and Protection Officer (GCDGPO). This pivotal role encompasses the following responsibilities:
Lead and Manage: Direct the Data Policy Team, currently consisting of 1 direct report, ensuring effective oversight and management of all team responsibilities.
Policy Development: Develop, review, and maintain our organization’s data governance and protection policies in strict compliance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), the Ministry of Health's Health Instruction Manual on Data Protection, and other relevant regulations.
Advisory Role: Provide timely and accurate data governance and protection advice to staff across the organization.
Risk Management: Identify emerging data governance and protection risks and opportunities, crafting policies and guidelines to manage or capitalize on these developments.
Industry Scanning: Stay updated on developments in data governance and protection, including local and international legislative changes, PDPC guidelines, and industry trends. Develop and share materials to assist the GCDGPO and Group IT and Data team.
Data Sharing Agreements: Review and provide comprehensive inputs, comments, and revisions on Data Sharing Agreements with other organizations.
Committee Secretariat: Serve as the Secretariat for various committees chaired by the GCDGPO.
Additional Duties: Perform other data-related tasks as assigned by the GCDGPO.
Successful candidates for this role typically exhibit the following competencies:
Proficiency: Demonstrate strong knowledge in data protection, data governance, and PDPA obligations. Sufficient expertise in data/IT governance principles is required to contribute effectively.
Communication Skills: Possess strong writing and communication skills, particularly in clear and concise policy/technical writing. This role demands frequent articulation of thoughts, policies, and strategies in written format.
Team Leadership: Capable of managing and prioritizing tasks within a small team, functioning effectively as both an individual contributor and team leader.
Independent Work: Ability to work independently, taking strong ownership of assigned tasks and demonstrating problem-solving skills to assist staff with data protection risks and business objectives.
Self-Driven Learning: A proactive attitude towards self-development and continuous learning through reading, research, and networking is essential due to the evolving nature of the data protection domain.
