Job Description

Machine Learning plays a pivotal role in Shopify's mission of improving commerce for all. We organize and interpret petabytes of data to create cutting-edge merchant- and buyer-centric products powered by ML.

This role revolves around enhancing Personalization in the Shop App () to offer relevant, responsive, and safe experiences for our buyers. In addition, you'll support our merchants in expanding their businesses and reaching new and existing customers. This role entails managing a team of 6-8 ML Engineers and partnering closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to establish the area's roadmap and investments. The ideal candidate will also be technically hands-on with both algorithm development and deployment to promote technical thinking and exceptional skill from end to end.

Qualifications

• Experience in Data Science/Machine Learning Engineering, including hands-on technical management in the development of algorithms, large-scale production systems, and toolsets within the Machine Learning domain
• Demonstrated coding experience in one of the following languages: Python, Spark, C++, Java. Recent experience with Python and Spark is especially valuable
• Proven experience in recruiting and managing data/machine learning teams, including performance management and deep technical mentorship
• Strong ability to prioritize and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
