We’re Hiring: MI Data Analyst

Remote working with monthly travel to our Leicester site

We are looking for a talented MI Data Analyst to join our British Gas Business team, setting the standard in energy supply. In the complex energy sector, we strive to make energy simple and hassle-free for our customers. Success comes when we work together, trust each other, and have fun along the way. British Gas has been a household name in Britain for over 200 years, but we have never been more excited about the future. Now, more than ever, we need a brilliant MI Data Analyst to help lead our customers through these changing times.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and present analysis in an appropriate format.
  • Recommend and deliver operational and technical process or system enhancements to support settlement and imbalance delivery.
  • Support and consult with the team using tools like SAS, Hadoop, RStudio, MS Excel, VBA, Databricks, Python, Access, and SQL.
  • Develop scripts and reports/analysis to support the team, meeting technical, financial control, and audit requirements.
  • Provide management information for business performance monitoring.
  • Develop controls and management information.
  • Data mining, extraction, manipulation, and presentation.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in the Energy industry.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and familiarity with various data sources, data organization, storage, and relevant relational databases.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques.
  • Eagerness to understand R and develop in Databricks using Python.
  • Strong attention to detail, enabling accurate conclusions and predictions from data.
  • Effective collaboration skills with stakeholders.

Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Data Analytics; SQL, Advanced Excel (Power Query, VBA), and Access.
  • Knowledge of the UK Energy Industry, SAP/ISU, and Marketflow.
  • Traits: Technically minded, adaptable, strong desire to learn, ability to manage changing priorities effectively, and excellent stakeholder engagement.
