Mr. MLOps Platform Engineer

This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles (West Hollywood), or New York offices and will require you to be in office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this crucial role, you will have the chance to develop fundamental tools and infrastructure utilized by ML engineers at Grindr, including recommendations, LLMs, ads, visual search, growth/notifications, trust, and safety. We aim to ensure that ML systems are efficient (production-grade) and fast (for modelers to iterate upon). What’s the job? We're seeking a Senior MLOps Platform engineer to join the Grindr AI team. Ideal candidates should have proficiency in AI infrastructure, coding, Cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, GPU-based distributed training, and creating data engineering pipeline for ML. Vision: Develop and implement a strategic vision for our ML Platform ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to support our AI team. Responsibilities: Technical acumen: Lead the design, implementation, and operation of a robust and efficient ML platform to facilitate the training, validation, serving, and monitoring of ML models. Support ML team in constructing large-scale training, model management/deployment tools, and modeling libraries. Build a Training Compute Platform provisioning GPU and cluster compute, model deployment, and PyTorch ML modeling libraries providing cutting-edge model building blocks. Work closely with data engineering and backend teams in developing data pipelines for the ML team. The team works with Pytorch, Python, MySQL, and full-stack UI development, besides interacting with PostgreSQL, Kafka, AWS (s3, Sagemaker, etc), SnowFLake, Databricks, Git. Design and construct core elements of the ML lifecycle. Collaborate with the ML team at Grindr to bring their models into production, enhance their productivity and facilitate ML innovations. Partnership: Work closely with other teams, including ML researchers, software engineers, and data engineers, to define requirements and concur on architectural choices, understand, and solve development velocity pain points. What we’ll love about you: BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of total experience as an ML platform engineer, including deep learning models. 3+ Experience constructing ML Infrastructure enabling large-scale model training and high throughput, low latency serving use cases. 2+ years of experience with building production Machine Learning inference, development, productization, quantization, monitoring pipelines. 2+ years of experience establishing GPU cost/performance observability systems and optimizing them for cost and speed. Excellent coding skills in Python, Java, bash, SQL, and experience with Git version control. Experience with training frameworks like PyTorch, leveraging GPUs for distributed model training. Experience with Kubernetes container orchestration, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Understanding of Data engineering, AI, and machine learning concepts. Strong knowledge of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code. Experience with ML model quantization and optimization. We’ll really be thrilled if you have: Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields. Previous experience in building infrastructure for AI models such as a recommendation engine and NLP/ LLMs is preferred. Experience with GPU-accelerated inference using TensorRT, Ray Serve, or a similar framework. Design and implementation of large scale data processing solutions and libraries for feature backfilling and last mile data processing. Excellent written and verbal technical communication with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audience. Previous experience with AWS services & Databricks platform. Previous experience with deployment of ML models on edge devices.
