Job Description: New College Graduate Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at Western Digital, you will:

  • Collect and extract large datasets from various sources, including databases, APIs, and web scraping.
  • Develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms to forecast trends and future outcomes.
  • Integrate AI agents to automate data collection and analysis, enhancing efficiency.
  • Utilize generative AI to create synthetic data and generate insights.
  • Deploy and monitor models, ensuring they perform effectively.
  • Document methodologies to ensure reproducibility and auditability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and business analysts to solve business problems.
  • Explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
  • Expertise in AI/ML lifecycle management and tools.
  • Proficiency in statistical and machine learning techniques, such as regression, time series analysis, decision trees, boosting algorithms, and neural networks.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Skills in web crawling, NLP, and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with collaborative solutions, model versioning (GitHub), solution packaging (Docker), and deployment (Dataiku).
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib.
  • Experience in developing and deploying generative AI models and large language models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and automation software development.
  • Understanding of UI and UX design principles.
  • Excellent problem-defining skills, hypothesis generation, solution testing, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and effective collaboration with team members.
