Operational Risk Data Analyst

Position Location

Lynchburg, VA (Hybrid) or Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

Your Role

As a Risk team member at Genworth, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and manage risks, ensuring we continually support our customers and their families. You will leverage your knowledge of operational processes to research data incidents, understand impacts, and comply with notification and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with department leaders for ongoing risk assessment dialogues.
  • Managing the Data Incident Response process and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Interacting with Departments of Insurance and other governmental agencies regarding data incidents.
  • Maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and updating Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Leading complex operational risk review projects and implementing corrective actions.
  • Consulting on control failures and risk mitigation.
  • Advising departments on best practices and implementing them efficiently.
  • Continuously improving risk reporting, dashboards, and heat maps for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Aligning business-level IT and Security Risk reporting with risk considerations.
  • Supporting a culture of independent risk reporting and oversight.

What You Bring

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of insurance experience with expertise in service/claims, transaction processing, and project management.
  • High self-confidence with demonstrated integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to drive clear, value-added results and solve complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, formal, and informal).
  • Ability to enforce standards and effectively challenge processes and people.
  • Strong influence skills at all organizational levels.
  • Capability to design and implement risk mitigation and management processes.
