Job Overview

Chubb is in search of a highly motivated and experienced Operations Research Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This crucial role involves collaborating with our lead data scientist and other experts to deliver impactful optimization solutions for our new initiative. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in applying mathematical models to solve complex business problems and demonstrate eagerness to learn and implement the latest OR and AI techniques.

Job Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this role include:

• Developing and implementing optimization models to enhance business performance and operational efficiency within the insurance industry.
• Analyzing extensive data volumes to provide insights for data-driven decisions in areas such as insurance risk profiling, claims management, and other critical issues.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including actuaries, underwriters, and IT to design, develop, and integrate optimization solutions.
• Participating in the end-to-end data science lifecycle from problem definition to model implementation.
• Utilizing AI algorithms and predictive modeling to create dynamic optimization models capable of adapting to changing market conditions and customer needs.
• Keeping abreast of the latest OR and AI techniques and exploring innovative solutions to drive impactful optimization results.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

• 3+ years of experience in Operations Research with a strong understanding of mathematical modeling, optimization, and simulation techniques.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related fields (advanced degree preferred).
• Experience in deploying OR solutions in the cloud environment.
• Familiarity with AI algorithms, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques, particularly their application in insurance problem-solving.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Basic understanding of descriptive statistics and exploratory data analysis techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work with complex datasets.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with various stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Self-driven with a keen interest in learning and applying the latest OR and AI techniques to solve complex business problems.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $80,500 to $137,000, based on the applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
