WSP USA is excited to offer a career opportunity for an Environmental Scientist, Data Analyst as a part of our dedicated Aquatic Sciences Team. This part-time position is based out of our vibrant San Diego office.

About This Role

The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting regulatory compliance programs within aquatic environments or working in environmental laboratory settings. Proficiency in data analysis and QA/QC is essential, with a strong command of database tools such as MS Excel. Candidates should be meticulous in following QA/QC procedures and possess acute attention to detail. Additionally, knowledge in statistical procedures, sample collection, analytical chemistry, and effective writing skills will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical, social, and ethical skills by supporting various tasks.
  • Engage in data processing activities including summaries, analysis, and entry, along with QA/QC.
  • Assist in producing study reports and participate in field efforts, which might include stormwater, sediment, and tissue collection or water quality assessment, accounting for 10-25% of your time.
  • Applicants with small boat handling and trailering skills will have an advantage.

Who We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aquatic Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
  • Prior experience with data spreadsheets, databases, and statistical programs.
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing and familiarity with standard software and tools.
  • Compliance with WSP’s safety, health, and drug/alcohol policies.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and successful completion of WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Availability for weekend work or overtime as needed and occasional travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior professional experience or internships.
  • Innovative thinking and a strong work ethic.
