Meta Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Researcher in Fundamental AI Research (FAIR)

Meta is on the lookout for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team. This research organization is dedicated to advancing significant progress in the field of AI. Postdoctoral Researcher, FAIR Responsibilities

• Conduct pioneering research to advance the scientific and technological boundaries of text-only or multimodal language modeling with a focus on reasoning, world modeling, and agentic behavior learning.
• Invent or enhance novel data-driven paradigms for text-only or varied-modality generation.
• Enable reasoning with multimodal understanding and generation systems.
• Develop the next generation of platforms for AI and multimodal research.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Multimodality, or a related field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with AI frameworks like Hugging Face or other systems.
• Experience in training and use of language models and Transformers.
• Proven track record of achieving significant results, evidenced by grants, fellowships, patents, and publications at leading AI and NLP conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP).
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via internships, work experience, coding competitions, or significant contributions to open source repositories like GitHub.
• Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.
• Experience solving complex problems, evaluating alternative solutions, and determining the optimal path forward.
• Experience working and communicating cross-functionally within a team environment.
• Research experience in machine learning, representation learning, optimization, statistics, applied mathematics, or data science.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $117,000/year to $173,000/year, plus benefits. Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
