Job Title: Principal Applied Scientist - Search & Recommendation

Your New Role

You will dive into complex problems, applying your deep knowledge in applied science, especially within AI domains such as Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. Your work will directly impact Microsoft’s products, driving innovation and executing on scalable AI solutions that enhance intelligent user-facing experiences across Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic applied science projects, enhancing product features and user experiences.
• Engage with multiple stakeholders across the company to foster collaboration and innovation.
• Conduct rigorous applied science experiments and develop high-performing ML algorithms and models.
• Pioneer advanced techniques in AI, while advocating for Responsible AI and privacy-preserving practices.
• Mentor a dynamic team, promoting a culture of scientific inquiry and technological excellence.

What You Bring:

• A robust educational foundation with a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in Machine Learning, with particular expertise in areas such as Search, Recommendation, or Information Retrieval.
• At least 3 years of design and coding experience, with proficiency in C#, Java, Python, or C/C++.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with large-scale machine learning implementations.
• An innovative mindset with the capability to drive ideas into actionable technology solutions.

While a Ph.D. is preferred, it is not mandatory for exceptional candidates who demonstrate relevant expertise and experience.
