What You Will Do

Position Summary

As a Principal Data Engineer on Stryker's Finance Data Science and Engineering team, you will collaborate with pioneers in financial analytics. This role places you at the forefront of data management innovation, building sophisticated ETL pipelines that transport data from various source systems to essential end products. Your work will enhance our capabilities in processing, analyzing, and leveraging vast arrays of financial data efficiently.

By working closely with our Data Science team, you will contribute to the rapid development of groundbreaking financial analytics tools and applications, aiding strategic decisions that impact Stryker's global operations. You will leverage advanced technology platforms, including cloud-based infrastructures, data integration frameworks, and AI/ML applications. Your expertise will go beyond traditional data engineering, encompassing areas such as risk assessment, inventory optimization, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and robust ETL pipelines to transfer data efficiently from various source systems to analytical platforms.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements, enabling easy access to key data and fostering innovation.
• Explore and integrate new data sources to enhance our analytical capabilities.
• Ensure data integrity and security throughout the pipeline.
• Partner with finance and IT teams on strategic projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers.

What You Will Need

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, data analytics, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field with applicable data engineering and architecture work experience.
• 8+ years of work experience required.
• Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science or quantitative discipline preferred.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience leading end-to-end data engineering and architecture projects.
• Advanced skills in data modeling and storage of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Proficiency in programming languages essential to Data Engineering (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark).
• Expertise in optimizing workflows, pipelines, and algorithms.
• Mastery in ETL/ELT, pipeline creation, orchestration, and data store/warehouse/systems architecture.
• Advanced working knowledge of cloud-based native tools (Power BI, Apache Spark, Azure, AWS).
• Experience with cloud-native distributed computing tools such as Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Salary: $126,500 - $229,500 plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
