Job Introduction

We are looking for a dedicated Principal Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering technical analytics requirements and spearheading best practices in analytics use case development, deployment, scaling, and maintenance. You'll collaborate with AI vendors and start-ups to drive innovation and create impactful machine learning and statistical models to tackle our most complex operational challenges. This role involves supporting the development of scalable data products and working closely with stakeholders across GlobalFoundries to maximize data value.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Lead Data Scientists and business customers to translate needs into predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions.
  • Assist with building required data pipelines for scalable predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions alongside GFIT and Manufacturing Data Domain groups.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and create compelling visualizations using high-dimensional datasets.
  • Identify suitable machine learning or statistical approaches and optimize models through hyperparameter tuning.
  • Deploy models into production with support from Product Engineers and ensure consistent performance.
  • Monitor and validate models to prevent performance degradation.
  • Stay current with best practices and new model techniques, supporting technical and analytics capability building within the team.
  • Communicate the value of analytics to Fab leadership and business partners, enhancing analytics awareness.
  • Facilitate the generation and maximization of value from analytics solutions.

Other Responsibilities

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biostatistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the analytics space with a proven track record of innovation.
  • Proficient in data science techniques such as Forecasting, Recommendation Systems, Logistics Optimization, Churn Analysis, Segmentation Analysis, and Deep Learning.
  • Experience with environments such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, or STATA for creating business models (Data visualization experience is a big plus).
  • Experience with optimization and cloud environments to scale and productionize recommendation engines.
  • Ability to implement business-focused advanced analysis that captures industry-specific nuances.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership skills capable of guiding team members to ensure on-time excellence.
  • Experience working in Agile teams with a product mindset.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport within the team and senior leadership.
  • Flexibility to work with ambiguous problems and unstructured data.
  • Proven ability to take quick, iterative actions to show incremental impact and value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science or a related field.
