About the Role

As a pivotal member of the Fraud Data Science team, you will build machine learning models designed to safeguard our customers and the integrity of our transactions. Your expertise will contribute to the development of real-time models that prevent fraud across various stages of the customer journey, from application to transactions.

By partnering with an interdisciplinary team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, you will drive innovations that deliver products customers love. You will leverage a diverse technology stack including Python, AWS, Spark, PyTorch, and TensorFlow to extract insights from vast datasets.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is innovative and stays updated with the latest technologies and data science applications. You are technically proficient with open-source languages and have a solid grounding in developing solutions using leading cloud computing platforms. Your statistical expertise allows you to build and evaluate predictive models, making you a guru in handling and analyzing 'big data'.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience in data analytics, or Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience, or soon-to-be-obtained PhD in a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with open-source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
• Proven experience in machine learning and working with relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in a STEM field with extensive experience in data analytics.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or R, and experience with SQL and AWS.
• Familiarity with more than three years in machine learning techniques.

Compensation and Benefits

Capital One offers a robust compensation package for the Principal Data Scientist position, with salaries ranging from $165,100 to $188,500 based on New York City location (hybrid onsite). You will also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and long-term incentives.
