We're excited to announce an opening for a Principal Software Engineer in Data Engineering, focused on innovating Zscaler's Business Insights product. This initiative delivers profound business insights to our clientele, empowering them with valuable data-driven decision-making tools derived from extensive telemetry.
- Design and develop multi-tenant systems for managing vast amounts of structured and semi-structured data rapidly and efficiently.
- Construct a robust and scalable data platform tailored to the diverse needs of Business Insights applications.
- Collaborate closely with product management, marketing, security, UX/UI, and data teams to refine and expand Business Insights capabilities.
- Devise models that accurately represent business entities and their interrelations, enhancing our analytic offerings.
- Over 12 years in software development, with a focus on creating high-performance data processing infrastructure. Expertise in profiling, log analysis, and tuning is essential.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience developing data/analytics-driven applications.
- Proficiency in Java (5+ years), Python, and familiarity with Go preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Big Data integration, including Hadoop, with proficiency in Hive/KQL/SQL.
- Experience designing systems under REST architectural principles, and working with various messaging queues like RabbitMQ and Kafka.
- Knowledge of cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP) and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is advantageous.
- Proven ability at building connectors for integrating third-party data from various SaaS platforms.
- Exceptional interpersonal, technical, and communication skills, with the ability to quickly learn and integrate new technologies.
- Skilled in optimizing code performance within big data environments.
- Extensive understanding of DBMS, including NoSQL principles and design.
- Proven track record in JVM tuning for peak performance.
- Experience overseeing software products from concept through to execution and support.
- A foundational grasp of statistics and machine learning is advantageous.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this full-time role is $210,000—$240,000 USD, excluding potential bonuses and equity, plus benefits. Zscaler's salaries are competitive and reflective of market standards.
