Job Description

Role Purpose

The aim of the Data Analytics group is to unlock new commercial insight and analysis using data. In order to achieve this, the team will need a solid understanding of data pipeline and domain expertise. This will include defining core data models, the capacity to perform extensive and intricate queries across datasets and create sophisticated visualizations. The group will advance the data quality agenda through prioritization, measurement and coordinated improvements throughout the data lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with Location leads to implement data quality initiatives, ensure data consistency and reliability and support the launch of new products
  • Continuously expand product and domain knowledge to establish themselves as a subject matter expert for the region
  • Become expert users of relevant data stores and applications, and coordinate data sourcing, maintenance, quality, and control for respective regions
  • Collaborate with Data Management to train, guide, implement best practices, and ensure their work is completed accurately
  • Ensure client queries are resolved in a timely manner, analyze trends in client's complaints and implement solutions in response
  • Support the implementation of new product features and functionalities through testing and documentation
  • Lead and assist in delivering top-priority projects and initiatives to improve data quality or processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure best practices for their region are adopted in maintaining databases, tools, models and process solutions from data sourcing to customer delivery
  • Work with internal and external customers to fulfill complex data requests with high quality and timely deliverance
  • Provide specialist skills in data analysis and derive insights into the quality of data, show initiative and a good understanding of database structure for their regions
  • Actively partake in quarterly data OKRs planning and keep relevant JIRA items updated at all times
  • Train and support junior colleagues in completing tasks and actively participate in Data Management sprint planning
  • Ensure all new and current processes and product features are documented
  • Build positive working relationships with Research, data colleagues and Product
  • Collaborate with Location Leads and Data Engineers to prioritize improvements to data ingestion and process efficiency
  • Operate in an agile, collaborative manner to cultivate an environment of continuous improvement and incremental delivery
  • Assist with data sourcing, input and data quality resolution to ensure the highest quality data is incorporated into our products #LI-NT1

Qualifications

  • A good understanding of WM Upstream product suite
  • Strong regional or content domain expertise, demonstrated in the current role
  • Knowledge of using technology solutions to resolve business problems, including web scraping
  • Intermediate skills in SQL and familiarity with databases like NoSQL or SQL Server
  • Advanced skills in a data visualization package (such as Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, GIS)
  • Experience independently leading data projects and expertise in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management
  • Full proficiency with MS Office – Excel (including Power Query)
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to mentor more junior colleagues
  • Problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately on large datasets
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage personal workload and that of others within sometimes tight timeframes
