USRA is actively seeking a skilled Research Assistant (Data Analyst) for a dynamic role at the prestigious Marshall Space Flight Center. This visiting position focuses on the Land Use/Cover Change Science, Research, and Products in Asia and globally. As a crucial member of our team, you'll engage in essential spatial data analysis to advance land cover studies and support scientific research that makes a real-world impact.
The Research Assistant will enhance our team’s capabilities by assisting in both the pre and post-processing of remotely sensed data. Utilizing advanced tools such as Python, Matlab, JavaScript, and various remote sensing software, you will contribute significantly to our data analysis processes. Additionally, you will be instrumental in crafting detailed reports that convey scientific analysis effectively.
This is a short-term position, lasting anywhere from 6 to 12 months, dependent on funding. The ideal candidate will have robust programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or JavaScript, and experience in statistical data analysis with tools like R. While familiarity with Remote Sensing and GIS software (such as ERDAS, ENVI, QGIS, ArcGIS) is preferred, it is not a prerequisite. Applicants should be well-organized, possess a high level of independence, and demonstrate the capability to analyze data autonomously.
Prospective candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in fields related to Remote Sensing, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, or Geography.
This role is primarily office-based in Huntsville, AL, and requires working with standard office equipment in a largely sedentary role. There is no travel required for this position.
