Join Our Team as a Research Associate in Air Traffic at NTU

At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) is looking for a talented Research Associate (Air Traffic) to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) within the realm of air traffic control and management. This role is crucial for the development of advanced solutions to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of air traffic systems amid growing travel demands and unpredictable elements like weather and operational delays.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Development: Engage in innovative research focusing on AI and ML applications tailored for Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Air Traffic Management (ATM). Your work will involve designing sophisticated algorithms and models, including deep learning and deep reinforcement learning strategies.

Data Analysis: Perform extensive data mining and analytics to support the development of cutting-edge air traffic management theories.

Project Support: Assist the principal investigator or team leader in managing the project lifecycle, including the drafting and submission of progress reports.

Simulation and Prototyping: Create simulations, prototypes, and intelligent tools designed to optimize air traffic management processes.

Collaboration: Effectively communicate and collaborate with both industry and academic partners to contribute to joint goals and integrate advancements into real-world applications.

Job Requirements:

Educational Background: Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.

Programming Skills: Excellent proficiency in Python programming is essential for this role.

Reinforcement Learning: Demonstrable project experience with applied machine learning and reinforcement learning specific to air traffic control and management is highly favored.

Research Publication: A consistent track record of publications in AI, ATM, ATC, or closely related fields is preferable.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication abilities are required.

Team Collaboration: Candidates should be capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
